Where We Work
We are based in Serere, located in the Eastern Region of Uganda, which is known for its rich cultural heritage, diverse ecosystems, and vibrant communities. The district is predominantly inhabited by the Iteso people, an ethnic group known for their rich cultural traditions, including dance, music, and storytelling. The local communities are primarily rural, with livelihoods centered around agriculture, livestock rearing, and fishing. The social fabric of Serere is tightly knit, with a strong emphasis on community and family ties. However, beneath this vibrant facade, Serere grapples with challenges that threaten its essence. Poverty, underdeveloped infrastructure, fragile health systems, and a dire need for clean water and sanitation cast shadows over its future. But within these challenges lies our call to action—a chance to weave a brighter future for Serere. Our mission is to address these issues and kindle hope, foster sustainable growth, and enrich communities in this beautiful district. School & Health Center Building Project, Okodo Village
Okodo Village is a rural community in Serere District, Eastern Uganda, with a population of population of about 176,500. Improve is launching a transformative project in Okodo, Serere, Uganda, by developing a 10-acre site into a comprehensive education and health facility. This initiative aims to foster educational empowerment and healthcare accessibility in the community. The project includes the construction of a new school designed to provide a balanced curriculum that nurtures academic and practical skills within a Christian values framework. Simultaneously, a health center will be established to offer essential medical services, focusing on preventative care and treatment to improve community health outcomes. This dual-purpose development is expected to profoundly impact the Okodo community by enhancing educational opportunities for children, improving healthcare access for all residents, and stimulating broader community development through job creation and social cohesion. Improve invites global partners, volunteers, and donors to support this noble endeavor, emphasizing the project's role as a cornerstone for lasting positive change in Serere.
